Into the Lamp is going to be PUBLISHED!!!
Guys I can’t believe this is even happening, this all feels so crazy!
Okay so I need to back up a bit. So this past week I’ve dropped a couple of hints regarding my current WIP Project L all leading up to this moment, the big reveal! I wanted to share it here because this was where I first started talking about Into the Lamp so it only seems fitting to come full circle and announce its publication here. Before I go any further, let me just share the video that explains it all.
Thank you so much to Isabelle and Liz for sending in questions!
If you’re just looking for the quick facts, here you go:
Into the Lamp is a YA fantasy inspired by “Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp” found in Arabian Nights. It’s set to be published spring 2025, most likely around April and will be published under a pen name, D. B. Rayne. Publication date is to be announced hopefully by the end of the year.
The blurb:
A boy. A genie. One chance to change his life.
Life hasn’t been kind to Colin Carlson, but it’s okay because he’s much too busy focusing on work and saving up for college to care. At least that’s what he tells himself. In a couple more years, he’ll be able to escape his dull life and, more importantly, his uncle’s family. However, things may change faster than he thought when a strange man shows up and forces Colin to retrieve a magical lamp. One that the stranger, Amir, claims to have a genie inside.
Of course, Colin isn’t about to start believing in fairytales, except when Amir’s proven correct, Colin finds himself stuck with a genie. A teenage girl genie who claims she can grant him anything he wants. This is his chance to finally escape life with his dysfunctional family and maybe even get his crush Nia King’s attention. However, the genie brings more problems than help, and Amir is after Colin to get to the genie because there’s only one way to separate genie from master: death. And with the discovery of a whole other world on the brink of revolution, Colin is caught between the collision of two worlds.
Into the Lamp is a fantastical adventure full of dreams, wishes, self-discovery, and a bond that is stronger than life.
So who’s excited for the release?!
